Demand evidence for founders

Know what to build next.
Backed by evidence, not vibes.

Describe your app or SaaS idea in one sentence. GapTheory matches it against 100,000+ real complaints, reviews, and feature requests and shows you the demand.

How it works

From signals to opportunities

Three steps from data to decision. Collected continuously, so the evidence is current when you need it.

01

Signals surface from the noise

GapTheory watches real app store reviews, developer feature requests, unanswered technical questions, and founder discussions. These are official, licensed sources where future customers reveal unmet needs, missing pieces, and emerging demand.

02

AI clusters them into Gaps

Related signals are grouped semantically into named market Gaps. Each one is scored by friction intensity, how many signals back it, and how many independent products confirm it.

03

You build with conviction

Each Gap includes a Theory, Missing Pieces, real user quotes, and a ranked opportunity score so you pitch to investors or write specs on day one. Stop guessing what to build. Start with evidence.

The obvious question

“Couldn't I just ask ChatGPT?”

You could. You'd get a plausible-sounding guess. GapTheory is built on something a prompt can't generate:

Real receipts

Every signal is an actual complaint from a real user, with a source and a date. Click through and read it yourself. AI synthesizes what complaints probably sound like.

A denominator

107,000+ verified signals, clustered and scored against each other. AI can't tell you whether a pain is top 1% or background noise. It isn't counting anything.

A memory

Every signal keeps its source, its author, and the date it was posted, some of it stretching back years. Evidence you can check is different from an answer you have to trust. No prompt can reconstruct yesterday.

Features

Everything you need to find opportunities backed by real evidence

Built for founders who want evidence before they write code.

Validate by idea

Describe a problem or idea in plain words and get the most relevant Gaps, named and scored. Your concept matched against real demand, not a wall of raw posts.

Execution Gaps

Established products ranked by the friction they generate. See exactly where incumbents are vulnerable, backed by verbatim evidence, and build the better version.

Gap Explorer

Search, filter, and sort every discovered gap by friction level, signal volume, and opportunity space. Filter every discovered gap down to the niche you care about.

Opportunity Spaces

Market segments grouped automatically by theme, like Hospitality Operations, EdTech, and Trade Services. See where the clusters of opportunity actually live.

Gap Theory & Missing Pieces

Every Gap gets a Theory explaining why it exists, plus a prioritised list of Missing Pieces that shows what current solutions fail to provide.

Friction Score

A score from 0 to 100 showing how strongly a need is being expressed across real conversations. Higher friction often points to stronger unmet demand and greater opportunity.

Cross-Product Corroboration

Every Gap shows how many distinct products its complaints come from. Thirty products generating the same complaint is a market gap. One product generating it thirty times is just a bad release.

Evidence Dossiers

Every Gap you research is kept for good as a dossier you can reopen. Copy it as Markdown or save it as a PDF, so the evidence goes straight into your spec or investor deck.

A different way to build

Most founders start with ideas.
GapTheory starts with evidence.

Traditional approach

GapTheory

Brainstorm ideas
Discover signals
Guess demand
Count the evidence
Build first
Validate first
Hope users care
See real evidence
React to competitors
Move before them

GapTheory doesn't replace your intuition. It gives it evidence to stand on.

Why GapTheory

Not another scraper with a search box

Built differently, on purpose, for founders who need evidence they can stand on.

Built on legitimate data, not scraping

Other tools quietly scrape Reddit, G2, and Google, risking bans, takedowns, and lawsuits. GapTheory runs entirely on official, licensed sources. That makes it defensible, reliable, and something you can actually build a business on.

Answers, not a wall of search results

Most tools hand you a keyword box and thousands of raw posts to sift through. GapTheory clusters all that noise into named, scored, explained Gaps. We don't give you the haystack. We hand you the needle, and tell you why it matters.

Signal from where builders actually talk

Real app store reviews, developer feature requests, unanswered technical questions, and founder discussions. Every one is packed with genuine “I wish this existed” intent, not generic social chatter.

Intelligence that compounds over time

A search engine is a snapshot. GapTheory keeps a growing record of real demand, so you can watch a Gap heat up and move before the market catches on. It gets sharper the longer it runs.

Questions

Before you ask

Is my idea private when I validate it?

Yes. The idea you type is used only to match against our gap database. We keep a private record to prevent abuse and understand demand, but it is never shared, published, or used to train anything.

Where does the data come from?

Official, licensed sources only: app store reviews, developer feature requests, public technical Q&A, and founder discussions. No gray-area scraping. That is a deliberate choice so the evidence stays dependable.

How fresh is the data?

The pipeline collects and re-clusters continuously, so gaps and scores update as new signals arrive. Every signal keeps its source link and posting date, so you can check any claim yourself.

What do I get in the beta?

Full access to the gap database, idea validation, and the evidence dossiers behind every gap. In exchange we ask for honest feedback. We let founders in a few at a time.

What will it cost?

The beta is free. Paid plans come later, and beta members will hear about pricing first.
